Evolutionary Game Theoretical Approach to Dynamic Spectrum Sharing ⋆

The problem of dynamic spectrum sharing in a cognitive radio network where multiple bounded rational secondary users compete with each other is addressed. The evolutionary game theory is presented to investigate the dynamic strategies of secondary users. Using replicated dynamics, the proposed game is converging to the evolutionary stable equilibrium. Moreover, a punishment mechanism is introduced into the proposed algorithm, which will obtain a better performance for the secondary users. The numerical results reveal, the proposed evolutionary game algorithm is converging to the evolutionary stable strategy (ESS) and capable of obtaining higher utilities compared with the classical game algorithm. In addition, the performance of secondary users achieved in the proposed game with punitive mechanism is better than the case that without punitive mechanism.
